Every calculator on this site is reviewed by a named domain expert before it's published. No anonymous badgesโjust real people with verifiable backgrounds who stand behind the accuracy of each tool.
Our Editors
Our editorial team combines decades of real-world expertise across finance, healthcare, engineering, construction, and technology. Each specialist owns a domain and is personally accountable for the tools within it.
Marcus spent over a decade as a tax advisor at a mid-size accounting firm in Chicago before transitioning to financial education. He specializes in self-employment taxation, real estate investment analysis, and retirement planning. He has personally prepared over 2,000 individual and business tax returns and trained in IRS audit defense procedures.
Reviews: Mortgage, Tax, Investment, ROI, 1099, Retirement, Freelance Rate, Self-Employment Tax, and all Finance category calculators.
Dr. Nair holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional Science and has worked as a clinical dietitian in hospital settings in the UK and US. She has contributed to peer-reviewed research on metabolic rate calculation differences across populations, and consults on public health communications. She cross-references all health calculator formulas against current WHO, CDC, and NIH guidelines.
Reviews: BMI, BMR, Calorie, Body Fat, Blood Pressure, Sleep, Pregnancy, Heart Rate, and all Health category calculators.
Leon is a licensed Professional Engineer (Mechanical) with a master's degree in Applied Physics. He spent eight years in the energy sector working on thermodynamic systems before becoming a physics instructor at a community college. He verifies all formulas against peer-reviewed textbooks and NIST reference data, and flags any edge cases that could produce misleading results for non-specialist users.
Reviews: Kinetic Energy, Ohm's Law, Work & Energy, Force, Speed, Molarity, pH, Boyle's Law, Charles' Law, and all Physics/Chemistry calculators.
Ryan has been building and renovating homes for over two decades and holds a General Contractor license. He has personally framed hundreds of staircases, installed roofing on commercial projects, and designed deck structures to IBC and local building code standards. He reviews every construction calculator against current building codes (2021 IBC) and calls out factors like load paths, code minimums, and inspector expectations that online tools usually ignore.
Reviews: Stair Stringer, Roof Calculator, Deck Cost, Lumber Span, Fence, Gutter Size, Rebar, Paint, and all Home Improvement calculators.
Sophie is a full-stack software engineer with eight years of experience in web development, networking, and developer tooling. She has designed and maintained production systems at a SaaS company and teaches an online course on networking fundamentals. She verifies all tech calculator outputs by running them against real-world system data and cross-checking with RFC specifications and IEEE standards.
Reviews: Bandwidth, IP Subnet, Data Transfer, RAID, Binary Converter, Base64, Pixel Density, QR Code, and all Technology calculators.
For fundamental math and unit conversion tools, our team applies a structured verification process: each formula is sourced from authoritative references (NIST, ISO, BIPM), independently implemented by a second engineer, and tested against known values. Edge cases, unit ambiguities, and rounding behaviors are documented in our internal review log before any tool goes live.
Reviews: Percentage, Quadratic Solver, Mean/Median/Mode, Pythagorean Theorem, Unit Converters, and all Mathematics calculators.
Our Review Process
Publishing a calculator that returns a wrong answer is worse than not publishing one at all. Our process has four mandatory gates before anything goes live.
The editor identifies the authoritative source for each formula: WHO guidelines, IRS publications, NIST reference data, ASHRAE standards, or peer-reviewed textbooks. No formula is accepted from secondary or unverifiable sources.
A second team member re-implements the formula from scratch and compares outputs. If the results diverge by more than rounding error, the discrepancy is resolved before proceeding.
Every calculator is tested with zero inputs, extreme values, and known reference cases. Results are compared against established benchmarks (e.g., a 200 lb person at 5'10" should return a specific BMI).
The assigned editor reviews the educational content, checks that disclaimers match the tool's limitations, and adds their name to the reviewer badge. The calculator is only published after sign-off.
Our Values
Every calculator shows which specific editor reviewed it, with a link back to their profile on this page. There are no anonymous review badges.
All calculations run locally in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit your inputs. We never have and never will.
Where space allows, we cite the authoritative source for every formula directly on the calculator page. You can verify our math yourself.
Tax rates change, IRS mileage limits update, CDC guidelines evolve. We track regulation changes and update calculators accordingly, shown as "Last Reviewed" dates.
