💡 Expert Tips for Better Readability

Shorten your sentences. The #1 killer of readability is the "run-on sentence." If a sentence is longer than 25 words, try to split it into two. Your readers (and Google) will thank you. Aim for an average of 15-20 words per sentence.

Use simple words where possible. Why say "utilize" when you can say "use"? Why say "facilitate" when you can say "help"? Complex vocabulary increases the syllable count, which lowers your readability score. Write to express, not to impress.

Aim for Grade 8 level. Unless you are writing a medical journal or a legal contract, aim for a Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level of 8. This is the sweet spot for the general public. Even highly educated people prefer easy-to-read content when browsing the web.

⚠️ Common Writing Mistakes

❌ The "Wall of Text"

The Problem: Paragraphs that are 10+ lines long.

The Fix: Break paragraphs every 3-4 sentences. Use bullet points (like this list!) to break up information. White space is your friend.

❌ Passive Voice Overload

The Problem: "The ball was thrown by the boy" (Passive) vs "The boy threw the ball" (Active).

The Fix: Active voice is punchier, shorter, and easier to read. Try to make the subject perform the action.

"I use this tool daily. People think 'dumbing down' content is bad, but it's actually about accessibility. If your audience has to re-read a sentence to understand it, you've lost them. Keeping your Flesch score above 60 is the golden rule for digital marketing."
