Remember that a cone's volume is exactly 1/3 of a cylinder with the same dimensions. If you know the cylinder volume, just divide by 3!
Don't confuse them. Vertical height (h) goes straight up from the center. Slant height (s) goes along the side. 's' is always longer than 'h'.
Real-world cones (like ice cream cones) often don't have a "lid". In that case, you only need the Lateral Surface Area (πrs), not the base area.
The most common error in volume calculation is forgetting to multiply by 1/3 (or divide by 3). Without it, you're calculating a cylinder.
The formulas use radius (r). If you are given the diameter, you must divide it by 2 first.
Ensure radius and height are in the same units (e.g., both inches or both cm) before calculating.
