Always make sure all your measurements are in the same unit before calculating. If width is in feet and height is in inches, convert inches to feet first (divide by 12). Otherwise, your answer will be meaningless.
For complex shapes (like an L-shaped room), break them down into simple rectangles or triangles. Calculate the area of each piece separately, then add them all together to get the total area.
When calculating circle area, precision matters. Using 3.14 is okay for rough estimates, but using the π button (or 3.14159) gives a much more accurate result, especially for large circles.
The area formula uses radius (r), not diameter (d). Radius is half of the diameter. If you measure the full width of a circle (diameter), divide by 2 before squaring it.
You can't multiply feet by meters. Convert everything to one system first. 1 meter ≈ 3.28 feet. Consistency is key for accurate area calculations.
In formulas like πr², the "squared" part applies ONLY to the radius, not to Pi. Square the radius first (r × r), then multiply the result by Pi.
